The Governor made this known on Tuesday Live programme of the Nigerian Television Authority NTA where he participated from Sokoto Zonal Office on agriculture and food security post Covid-19.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is the chairman of the Presidential Task-Force on Rice and Wheat Production and Vice-Chairman of National Food Security Council of which President Muhammadu Buhari is chairing the Council.
He enumerated strategies the Federal Government have taken to mitigating the effect of Covid-19 on agricultural production.
Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu said the Anchor Borrowers Programme has empowered farmers to expand and enhance production in quantity and quality.
On his part the Governor of Jigawa State Abubakar Badaru who also featured on the live programme talked about fertilizer procurement and distribution by the federal government to farmers at controlled cost with subsidy nationwide.
Similarly, the Chief Executive of NALDA and President Maize Farmers Association expressed the hope that farmers in the country had been encouraged to enhance cultivation and solicited for necessary support from state governments that would enable them make the desired impact on the agricultural sector of the nation.
In the course of his visit to NTA Sokoto Zonal Office, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu interacted with management of the authority led by the Zonal Director Hajiya Saudat Sulaiman.
He was happy about the level of publicity accorded Kebbi state by the NTA, expressing hope that the gesture be sustained.
Welcoming the Governor, the Sokoto Zonal Director, Hajiya Saudat Sulaiman thanked him for the visit and his support to Nigerian Television Authority.
She gave an assurance that the station would continue to provide adequate coverage to the activities and programmes of the government and people of Kebbi state.
