The Governorship Tribunal sitting in Birnin Kebbi has admitted all the original certificates of the State Deputy Governor, Senator Abubakar Umar, which were presented the Permanent Secretary, Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Schools Education as well as Director of Exams.
They tendered the documents to prove attendance at various institutions attended by the Kebbi State Deputy Governor as well his attendance in the mock examination of the Sultan Abubakar Teachers College.

After the tendering of the documents, the second subpoenaed witness, Abdulrahaman Jafar Lawal was Cross-examined by the 1st, 2nd and 4th Respondents’ counsels as well as the counsel to the petitioners, led by Ibrahim K. Bawa SAN.

The Permanent Secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Schools Education wasrepresented by Director Exams, Mustapha Idris Musa,who informed the Tribunal that he was before the Panel on behalf of his Permanent Secretary via tribunal subpoena.

Musa stated that the Court’s subpoena they received ordered them to produce a broadsheet used for the mock examination of 1979 of their College among other documents.

He also told the court that one Zayanu Muhd Umar that came to this court and presented himself as a Principal of Sultan Abubakar College is a Vice principal and not a Principal and at the time he came and allegedly falsely presented himself as a Principal, the genuine and substantive Principal Mustapha Abubakar was in the office and Zayanu came to Birnin kebbi without his boss knowledge or consent.

While speaking with newsmen, Counsel to the 3rd Respondents, Kehinde K. Elijah(SAN), said the subpoenaed witnesses’ documents tendered have shown that testimonials issued to the Deputy Governor and Mocks Result were properly issued.

“What transpired today in the Court is the continuation of the defence of the 3rd Respondent, that is the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State. And of course, one of the witnesses was cross-examined, the representative of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Schools Education, Sokoto who tendered documents without testifying, especially on a report in verification of certain documents.

“Thereafter, we called also on an official, Acting Director, who at some point was a Sole Administrator/ Principal of the Sultan Abubakar College, Sokoto and that person confirmed that the testimonial of His Excellency, Deputy Governor of Kebbi State was properly issued.

He also identified His Excellency mocks examination result and confirmed that His Excellency duly registered and he also tendered broad results sheet of those that sat for mocks examination”, he said.

The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafidan Kabi, who paid a visit to the family of Late Mu'azu Bello to console them, described the  for death of late Muazu Bello as a great loss not only to the family but to the entire Kebbi state. The Deputy Governor said that the  late Mu'azu Bello was a professional journalist who served Kebbi State and the country as a whole.  He prayed Allah to  forgive mistakes of  the deceased.
